This Privacy Policy explains how Depwa collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website, profiles, visual-search tools, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or another supported provider, we may receive information such as your name, email address, profile image, provider account identifier, and authentication details. We plan to collect a private birth date or age confirmation to enforce our minimum-age requirements. Your birth date will not appear publicly.
Profile and business information
Artists, owners, and managers may provide a display name, biography, specialties, services, professional role, salon affiliation, phone number, social profile, booking link, service location, profile image, and portfolio content. Some of this information is intended to be public.
Photos and other content
We collect photos, captions, notes, comments, credit information, reports, and other content you submit. Public portfolio photos and approved client submissions may be displayed to other users.
Private inspiration uploads
A photo uploaded for visual search is stored and processed privately to validate the image, analyze nail-related characteristics, locate similar work, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the feature. It is not published or added to your profile unless you separately choose to submit it as public content.
Location information
You may provide a city, state, ZIP code, or allow your device to share location so we can prioritize nearby professionals. Depending on your choice and device settings, this may include approximate or precise coordinates. Location access is optional and can be changed through your browser or device settings.
Usage and device information
We may automatically collect IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, feature interactions, timestamps, error logs, cookie or session identifiers, and similar technical information.
Communications and review submissions
We collect information you provide when you contact us, report content, submit a listing or phone-number correction, claim a profile, request account deletion, or ask for support.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure accounts;
- provide visual search and rank similar nail looks;
- display and manage artist, salon, and portfolio profiles;
- prioritize professionals based on a selected location;
- review claims, corrections, credits, and listing updates;
- detect duplicate, stolen, stock, branded, AI-generated, unsafe, or prohibited content;
- moderate submissions and investigate fraud or misuse;
- communicate about accounts, security, requests, and Service updates;
- measure performance, fix errors, and improve Depwa; and
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. AI and automated processing
Depwa may use artificial intelligence, visual-analysis tools, metadata, similarity models, and automated screening to validate photos, generate or infer nail attributes, rank results, identify duplicates, and assist moderation or verification. Automated results may be reviewed or corrected and may not always be accurate.
4. How we disclose information
We may disclose information:
- Publicly: when you create a public profile or submit content intended for publication;
- To service providers: that support hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, security, communications, maps, image processing, and AI features;
- To artists or salons: when you submit a credit, claim, affiliation request, correction, or content requiring their review;
- For safety and legal reasons: when reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, enforce agreements, or comply with valid legal process; and
- In a business transaction: in connection with financing, a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Depwa does not sell personal information for money. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide legally required choices.
5. Public information
Public profiles and approved public content can be viewed, saved, shared, indexed, or copied by others. Do not place private or sensitive information in a public profile, caption, comment, or portfolio image.
6. Third-party services
Depwa may link to booking platforms, social networks, maps, salon websites, and other third-party services. Those services control their own privacy practices. This Policy does not govern information you provide directly to them.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember choices, protect accounts, preserve search state, understand feature usage, and maintain Service performance. Browser settings may allow you to limit cookies, but some features may not work correctly without them.
8. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why it was collected.
Private inspiration uploads are retained only as long as reasonably needed for visual search, security, troubleshooting, and the retention settings then described in the Service. Before public launch, Depwa will publish a specific routine deletion period for these uploads.
Deleted content may remain temporarily in backups or records kept for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a denied privacy request. You may also update available profile fields, remove content, disable optional location access, or delete your account through available tools.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, subject to verification of their authority.
10. Children and teens
Depwa accounts are not available to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Users ages 13 through 17 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to disable the account and delete associated personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child under 13 submitted information may contact us using the method below.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. United States operations
Depwa currently operates from the United States. If you access the Service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Depwa evolves. We will post the revised version and update the effective date. If changes are material, we may provide an additional notice where appropriate.
